At DS1 HOSTING we strive to provide the most current open-source technologies. Open source simply means that the majority of the software that we use is available in the public domain. This makes our software costs virtually non-existant; and the savings are passed directly on to the end-user. Open-source technology also gives us a greater level of customization on our server and we are strong believers that open-source technology is for the most part more secure and user friendly.

	Our web server of choice is Apache (www.apache.org), this includes functionality such as Server-Side includes and is integrated PHP and Perl/CGI.
	Our application layer of choice is PHP (Hypertext Pre Processor; www.php.net). This facilitates rapid application development as well as easy integration with our PostgreSQL or MySQL Databases.
	Our Database of choice is PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL has advanced virtual account management as well as triggers and stored procedures. It is the Database of choice for most open source programmers.
	We can also arrange MySQL Databases, if required. MySQL is a simpler Database system, it is recommended for low-volume sites or for novice users. For more information: www.mysql.org
